Informative, frank,
personal self assessment
Like many of the current biographies of persons
who are HIV positive this book includes a great
deal of information about HIV/AIDS, and the
importance of nutrition. What makes this book
distinctive is the personal testimony of Venus Perez
describing how she became infected and how she
has found it possible to live positively with faith.
I found her story very moving. In Chapters 5 and 6
she presents an outstanding guide on how to live
positively with HIV/AIDS. I highly recommend this
book for persons who are HIV positive and/or are
working with such persons. This book could be
a useful study-guide for community and church
groups  africa. Conversations (panel) with

Great Human Interest Story-HIV Disease is now a
pandemic with almost 40 million people infected
worldwide.Venus brings the disease home to the
audiencein a very easy-to-read style.There is still 
stigma associated with the disease and sheshows 
that anyone can become infected - it is not a gay,
whiteman disease. It took courage to write this
and to putyour face on the cover. She shows that
with properattention to herself, compliance with
medications, good nutrition and a joy of living, it
is notan immediate death sentence. Part of Venus'
strong attitude is very faithbased and this is
supported in herbook. It is an easy read, a great
educational tool and I highly recommend it be
given to young people so that they can protect 
themselves from becoming infected.
