The year is 2010. We have come so far yet we are not quite there. Many lives were lost yet many still live. Many know the means of transmission, yet many neglect to follow it. Many of us live the fast life, looking for excitement, for success. We are constantly searching for that missing part that dwells deep inside, each one of us. For many of us, we are lost, broken, unloved, discriminated, depressed and angry. We are still in denial, shunned by society as lepers were years ago. We are individuals with HIV/AIDS. We are part of the world, and this society. Our lives have meaning, and each one of us can make a difference. I would like to take you on a journey, where you can experience the history, the struggles, trials and outcomes. Our testimonies, weaknesses, strengths, and our never ending hope for tomorrow.
About the Author & CEO of Venus Perez Publications
Venus Perez is a woman and a writer living with HIV/AIDS for over 20 years. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, relocated to Longwood, Florida, Venus is an experienced author and speaker on the topic of HIV/AIDS. In “I'm Still Here,” Venus hopes to empower others by sharing her experiences and providing vital information about HIV/AIDS as well as STDs. Other works by Venus include: "Miracles Still Happen" and "Comfort Foods Cookbook."
In addition to writing, Venus is the Executive Director of Easy Access Resource, not-for-profit agencies assisting individuals who are medically frail by providing resource needs in crisis situations. Venus has been appointed to the Orlando Eligible Metropolitan areas EMA HIV Health Services Planning Council and CFAP Consortia. She is also a representative to the Seminole County community, a sponsor to the Children's Miracle Network, a member of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, and a volunteer for the Coalition for the Homeless in Central Florida. She is also a Christian. AS for Venus’ singing, Venus has recorded: I'm Still Here and Heaven in Your Heart.
